    Denim Roundup: Top 5 Favorites

Let’s face it… denim is my life.  As a stay-at-home mom denim is my go-to for a comfortable, casual yet stylish closet staple.  At the end of the day I am not sure I need to sell you on the greatness of denim but I wanted to round-up my favorites all into one place.  While I gravitate towards distressed denim there are so many great pairs that are not.  Making sure you have both is key to ensuring versatility in your wardrobe.

I’ve rounded up my top 5 denim for value, quality and style.  Most are under $100 and some are currently one sale!

Thanksgiving Day Outfit: And Weekend Sales

    Thanksgiving Day Outfit

Can you believe it is time to talk about Thanksgiving Day outfits.  And not too far behind that it will be time for Christmas outfits.  I wanted to get this post out with time for all your orders to arrive for Turkey Day and to highlight a few great sales this weekend! Gobble gobble.

On to giving thanks and Thanksgiving day outfits (and some sales).  For our family it is normally a casual affair so this distressed denim and chunky sweater look is perfect. We typically lay low, eat too much breakfast, eat WAY too much turkey and never have room for pie.  Isn’t that how everyone does Thanksgiving?!?  Ha.

    Giving Thanks

Like so many of you I have an abundance to be thankful for this year.  This year, more than normal, I struggle to find the words to express my gratitude and thankfulness for all I am blessed with. For the health and happiness of my entire family and extended family.  This year I am ever more thankful that Declan is flourishing and thriving. For the opportunities and experiences of the last year that have continued to shape and form me.  And last but never least I am blessed beyond belief to be married to my life-long adventure buddy and best friend.

shop the look: denim // sweater // booties // tote // ring

This sweater is all over Instagram and it is obvious why; the comfort, the price (under $100) and the color.  All three make this the perfect sweater for your Thanksgiving Day outfit.  For me a good quality sweater under $100 (and under $72 this weekend) is a great find and while I am obsessed with this burnt orange color it does come in five other colors <here>.   It is on the shorter side so I paired it with these high-waisted distressed denim.  These jeans are a favorite this season. Plus the high-waisted nature of this pair keeps all that extra turkey tucked in!!  I got you girl. These are 150% my favorite booties.  I can not tell you the number of compliments I get them.  Order true to size and they will stretch a bit as you wear them.

get your look with the weekend sales

Keeping your clothes “on theme” is fairly easy and I have taken the hard work out of it by linking up my favorites for Thanksgiving Day outfit ideas.  Also, everything I have linked is on sale.  Both Loft and Evereve are having great sales that run through the weekend.  Make sure you order before Sunday to capitalize on these great sale prices.

Chunky over-sized sweaters are an easy and logical choice- think lots of eating and cozy traditions.  Distressed denim is a great compliment as it keep is casual and less formal but a step above lounge-wear.  If your days events are a bit fancier I have even linked some great dresses that would be perfect for your Thanksgiving Day outfit.  Order soon to be sure your favorites arrive before Thanksgiving and before the sale ends! Everything I have linked in the widget below are on sale!!

    a big thanks to you

That’s right, I want to thank each of you for your continued support and dedication to coming back week after week.  I know that often times the posts are long and emotionally heavy but I hope you can connect in some way.  It is my ultimate goal to inspire you, connect with you and I want to know how much I appreciate each of you.  Thank you.

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING

High-Waisted Denim: 5 Tips on How To

Let’s not [high] waist anytime and just jump into this weeks How To… HIGH-WAISTED DENIM…

So, you are afraid of the CT (camel toe) and therefore you won’t wear high-rise/high-waisted denim.  You think you are too short and it makes your body look too stubby.  Your hips don’t lie and so you don’t want to accentuate that part of your body.  At one point your mother wore high-waisted denim and you can’t get that mental image out of your mind.  Any other excuse ________________ (fill in the blank)..

    Perspective: Spring Stripes

Happy Hump Day- so it has been a while since my last post but life happens… so please excuse my delay.  We are now back to our regularly scheduled posting!!

    ZOOM…. Zoom…

I used to be the one who was speeding past others- always on the go. Now every morning and evening I watch the cars go by. Two different lives- two different feelings- two different perspectives.  Both sides of the coin are therapeutic for me but for different reasons. In London I got to see so much from the train or bus window that it helped me feel connected to the city. I felt like I was always experiencing something new as I watched from the window- therapeutic for my life in London. I got out and experienced London- it was therapeutic to join in and live this new life I had found as an expat. I was not sitting at my flat feeling depressed. I was connecting myself to my new location- I was grounding myself and providing a visual memory of my new home. I was zooming around London.

Now each day- twice a day- I get to sit and watch the world go by. Our dining room window faces a street and I have started to look forward to taking a break from my busy life to sit. And watch people zoom by while my son is eating.  Each day during breakfast and dinner I watch the world go by. It is a time where I take a breath and think. It is therapeutic to sit and watch the cars go by as I am reminded to stop and take a break. It is so easy to go through my whole day and never stop and think- never stop and reflect- never stop and breath.

Also, it reminds me that everyone is out there doing their best – maybe they are trying to get home to see their kids before bed, maybe they are trying to get to work to start a shift, maybe they are driving to see their friends and catch up, maybe they are just out for a drive to see the town! I find therapy in the comings and goings of strangers- I create stories. I breath, relax and escape.

shop the look: denim // top // jacket // necklace // shoes // sunnies

Styling stripes is one of my favorite things to do!! I live for stripes and if you know me I love to wear stripes.  This shirt is the softest t-shirt you will find with the most amazing fit.  The rounded bottom dresses it up a bit an the bold stripes create great dimension.  I would consider this an essential neutral shirt for spring and summer as it is easily paired with ANYTHING.  I am planning on scooping up a few more in other colors.  These new denim are slowly reaching their way to the top of my favorites list– they are a bit different than my typical distressed skinnies which is what I love about them.  They are a wider leg fit and the large cuff role is my favorite part. Do  not get me wrong I love skinnies but these are a nice alternative and can be dressed up or dressed down (run large so order a full size down).

Spring has sprung so it is time to embrace and love open toe shoes.  These new wedges are going to get a lot of love this spring and summer.  I saw them last year and was obsessed but could not stomach the shipping charges to London so when I saw them back again this year I was ECSTATIC. Keeping in spring theme this light weight utility jacket has become and absolute necessity over the last several weeks- it is not cold enough for a heavy coat but not warm enough to go without something…. enter this fabulous utility jacket.  I have linked several options for you below,

Honestly, the highlight of this whole outfit is the custom made Howlight Mala beaded necklace.  And the even better part is that Here And Now Beads is offering my readers 10% off this necklace. It is a unique, original and pairs with everything in your closet. Follow this link to her shop and  use code PISH2POSH at checkout. She has such an amazing collection of handmade stuff you will just love her Etsy store.  I have received so many compliments on it.  You may have seen it on this Instagram post.

    therapeutic perspective

It is amazing that I have been on both sides of this concept. Having been the one zooming by and the now the one sitting and watching… the problem is both are equally desirable. I guess the balance of life is in full effect. As I write, I am watching the traffic go by but remembering the feeling of watching London go by. I yearn for the constant action that London afforded me but each day I crave the stillness of this time here in Denver. The ying and yang of life continues to creep in and demonstrate to me the importance of perspective.

I hope I never loose the desire to be the one watch from the window…of a train or from my dining room table. Harnessing the beauty of balance and embracing the dichotomy of life has proven to be the best therapy around. And it’s free!!!

    With Love,

Like last post I am trying to provide items of similar style in varying price points.  As a rule of thumb I typically will keep most items under $100 (with exception of bags, sunnies and shoes).  Happy Shopping!!!

    A Birthday Letter

    Happy Birthday Declan!!

    To My Sweet Boy,

Happy birthday Declan.  Three years old- you are no longer a baby but you will always and forever be MY baby.  For the last three years I have watched and traveled an incredible journey with you.  From a teeny teeny newborn on oxygen in an incubator to a walking, talking (too much at times), intelligent toddler.  From our home in Denver across to world to London and back again.  You are smart, you are funny and you are the absolute sweetest boy I know.  Your passion for life and Peppa Pig bring smiles to my face everyday.  Your love for London, trains and Papa’s trucks make you unique and special.  Each day I am given the gift of motherhood and I thank you for being my little guy.

I have learned a great deal in the three years since you were born.  Obviously, I have learned what it feels like to love unconditionally, I have learned how to be selfless and I have learned the power of distraction to diffuse a tantrum.  But there  are less obvious things I have learned since your birth; there are less obvious emotions and undestandings that have come from you being a part of my life.

    what I have learned

To start, my marriage and your father.  To say I am lucky is an understatement,  To say I am blessed still doesn’t seem to do it justice.  While you were in the hospital all those months it was your dad who truly was the saving grace for our family.  His strength, love and determination proved to be the strongest link in the bonds that tie us together.  Your father’s love for you and for me continue to be the grounding force of which all our happiness resides on.  Without you I am not sure where our life would have gone, I am not sure I would have seen this side of your dad and therefore I am grateful each day that you came along and helped me see your father for who he truly is.

Next up, passion.  So I have always been a passionate person but now I have a direction and an outlet for my passions.  While you don’t sit and write blog posts with me what you do is provide an inspiration to continue down this journey.  Knowing that there is something bigger than myself now, someone I care more about and a desire to model happiness drives me to continue down this journey.  My passion is a happy life and each day with you I am given the opportunity to use my passions to demonstrate commitment, overcoming self doubt and following your own path.

Thank you Declan,  For all the late nights, for all the laughs, for all the tantrums, for all the Peppa Pig, for all the learning, for all the happiness you bring into my life. Today is your day- let’s eat smoked salmon, go on a lunch date to the cafe, drink apple juice, watch trains, ride in trucks, make silly jokes and read books.  Each day I hope I show you a little bit more of just how special you are- starting with today- your 3rd birthday.

    With Love,

    Mummy

P.S. This is a new category for the blog ‘family’.  And while I will continue with styled outfit inspiration and shopping links for most of my pots I am hoping to sprinkle in a bit more about my family life. You can find it all here!!  Hope you enjoyed a bit more personal post today.
